What is the Safety Tempered Glass? Safety glass is engineered to significantly reduce the risk of injury compared to standard float glass. Instead of shattering into sharp, jagged shards, it is processed to break in a safer way. The most common type is tempered glass. It is created by heating the glass to high temperatures and then rapidly cooling it. This process creates high internal tension, making it roughly four to five times stronger than regular glass of the same thickness. When tempered glass does break under extreme force, it crumbles into small, blunt, pebble-like pieces that are unlikely to cause severe cuts.
